About
My interest in the history of my “hometown” was the starting point for my ‘London Story’ series. I am fascinated by the different styles of architecture of public buildings, shops, offices and homes which make London the unique and amazing city it is. I photograph buildings, capturing the textures and patterns in pavements and floor tiles, windows, walls and brickwork and add these to my designs. I want my pieces to reflect the atmosphere, spirit and beauty of this city, combining a historical aspect with contemporary fragments of the world around me, linking past and present.

My designs begin with drawings from photographs, either my own or historical and from the sketches I create a linocut - I love the quality of line that linocuts give me and feel that I can express and capture the atmosphere I want through this technique.
My interest in linocutting began while studying for my degree in graphic design. I developed my printmaking and ceramic techniques through adult education courses at Morley College. It was here that I discovered ceramic decals and this is the technique I use to convert my prints into transfers to decorate my ceramics.

It really excites me that I can combine my two passions for making hand-built ceramics and lino printing. I feel that both techniques complement each other and bring out the beautiful quality of the other.
